About
Sheringham is very popular because of its fine beaches and cliffs surrounded by picturesque wooded areas to the north with views over the sea.
The beach is backed by a lengthy promenade (accessible for wheelchairs and mobility scooters) and colourful beach huts. On each end of the promenade are toilets and showers. Beach hut hire is also available through North Norfolk District Council.
There are seafront cafes to stop off for a bite to eat or an ice cream.
The beach offers endless expanses of golden sand at low tide, where chalk beds and rock pools are exposed ready to explore. It is a great spot for bird watching and seal spotting.
Nearby attractions include the lifeboat station at the west end of the promenade and Fisherman’s Heritage Centre adjacent to the fisherman’s slope. There is also Sheringham Museum and the North Norfolk Railway, a heritage steam railway that travels to Holt.
You can watch a spectacular sunrise and sunset from Sheringham’s beach; simply head towards the East beach in the morning and the lifeboat end in the evening.
Beach Access Points
• The beach can be accessed via a ramp at the end of Beach Road
• Vehicular access is not available onto the promenade but the promenade is easily accessible from the High Street. Access is also available from the Leas Gardens and the gangway at West Cliff Gardens.
On the Beach

• Beach huts and chalets can be hired throughout the season.
• First aid is available from the Lifeguards when operating.
• There is a designated dog free zone area from May to September. This is clearly marked on the map which can be found on the Beach Information Board at the entrance to the beach.
