The Lifeboat Inn

About

The Lifeboat is a classic inn; step through our door and you can feel the history that is soaked into the very timbers of the building. Order a drink at a bar which has served guests for generations, sit by the fireplace which has kept winter’s chill at bay through the ages, and enjoy the same welcoming atmosphere that has existed here for centuries.

We’re set on the very edge of Thornham village, overlooking the fields and beautifully unspoilt expanses of salt marshes. This unique landscape changes throughout the year and is a haven for wildlife.

We consider ourselves to be very lucky to have such great provenance on the doorstep, and our chefs take great delight in producing locally sourced meals, that embrace the regions nautical heritage. We serve traditional food and our menu explores regional British fare from land and sea. Simple but tasty dishes, providing colonial riffs on popular classics.

Enjoy coastal breezes and friendly greetings. Drift off to sleep in comfortable beds and wake to the cry of gulls and the scent of a cooked Lifeboat breakfast. We have 16 rooms and a further 11 rooms availabile 10 minute walk away at The Chequers (formerly Thornham Rooms). A stay at The Lifeboat and The Chequers is ideal for relaxing and leaving the cares of the world behind.

Wagging tails will always be welcome through our door. So much so, that we have dog beds, bowls and towels for overnight stays with your four-legged companion in mind. Our team members are always on hand with doggy treats and tips for the best dog walks in our area.
