About
In this 2.5 hour craft session participants will create a willow, corn and dried flower hanging wreath to celebrate May Day and Beltane!
This is a great opportunity to work with a variety of natural materials, have fun with like-minded participants and tune into your own creativity!
Participants will follow a guided, step-by-step process and will learn how to work with willow to shape and create a wreath hoop which they will then decorate to create their own unique piece.
Decorating the hoop will involve learning straw craft techniques to plait and braid corn, wheat and oats. Participants will be given step-by-step guidance about how to work with cereal crops to create simple braids to add as decoration on their wreath.
The session will also include other dried natural materials, twines and ribbons for further decoration.
There is also an extension activity to create a straw work corsage to wear or attach to your wreath.
All materials and full guidance will be provided.
