Sheringham based author, Gary Powell has released a second detective novel inspired by his working life in the British Transport Police. In 'The Cutting Room' we are reunited with DI Ryan McNally and his partner, D.S Marcia Frost, whom we met last year in his first novel, 'Mind the Killer'.
In 'The Cutting Room', The British Transport Police's Major Investigations Team are tasked with solving the seemingly unsolvable when called to investigate human remains in Left Luggage at Liverpool Street Station, and on the backseat of a London black cab at Victoria's busy bus terminal. With the only clues to identifying the victim being a wedding band and a tattoo, and with McNally standing trial for assault it's no surprise that tensions rise within the team. They face tough challenges in this fast-paced relentless dark journey of shocking twists and turns with very little light at the end of the tunnel.
Gary Powell is a former London detective being mainly involved in crime investigation, from murder to terrorism. The greater part of his career being on the Anti-Terrorist Branch at Scotland Yard and national surveillance teams. Following retirement in 2011 Gary resides in Sheringham, North Norfolk.
Gary has had three true crime books published: 'Death in Disguise': The Amazing True Story of the Chelsea Murders, 'Death Diary': A Year of London Murder, Execution, Terrorism and Treason and 'Convicted': Landmark Cases in British Criminal History. Gary has also compiled a social history of London squares entitled 'Square London'. In addition to being a guide at St Paul's Cathedral, Gary is a public speaker using his four true life books as source material. Over the years Gary has given several talks in Sheringham raising significant funds for The Healing Harbour charity, Sheringham Carnival and the RNLI.
